Harvest Equipment Available at GreenPlanet Wholesale

A heavy harvest can be a time for celebration. But before the champagne and caviar, growers must navigate one of the most challenging stages of cultivation. Similar to bottling and ageing fine wine, the harvesting process has the potential to express some of the best flavours and aromas cannabis has to offer. However, if procedures are rushed, even the most potent flowers can end up overdried, stale and tasteless. To combat this tragedy, factors like environmental controls, procedures, tips, and tools all play an essential role in producing flowers that stimulate and excite the senses. Lucky for us, GreenPlanet Wholesale is stocked with harvest equipment to help protect and enhance your investment. From gloves to automated trimmers, let’s look at some of the best harvest equipment GreenPlanet Wholesale has to offer.

Showa Gloves

As manufacturers of the industry’s best disposable gloves, Showa’s motto, “Always Innovating – Never Imitating”, is well-deserved. Showa’s 6110PF glove is 100% nitrile,  powder-free, and fitted with Eco Best Technology® – this feature enables the gloves to quickly biodegrade after being disposed.

But even better than this, the “second-skin” feel of Showa gloves allows growers to be better protected and more efficient while trimming. Perfect for any task in the garden, Showa provides the comfort, dexterity, and protection that growers deserve.

CenturionPro’s Automated Trimmers

The benefits of hand-trimming a crop are clear. Although, for some licensed producers, the costs associated with a hand-trimmed harvest are not aligned with the business plan of their operation. This is why more producers than ever are moving towards automated trimmers. If you manage a large-scale operation, the costs of trimming a crop can be astronomical.

However, by investing in automated trimming technology, both labour costs and trimming time can be drastically reduced. For trusted trimming solutions, consider investing in CenturionPro Trimming Solutions. CenturionPro has a huge catalogue of trimming solutions available at GreenPlanet Wholesale. So, if you’re interested in increasing your operations ROI, contact a GreenPlanet sales representative to determine the best solution for your garden

Harvest More’s Trim Bin

If you’re deciding to hand-trim your crop, there is no better way to increase productivity, fight fatigue and enhance quality than investing in a Harvest More Trim Bin. A Trim Bin is an ergonomic trimming station that turns any chair into a fully functional workstation. It comes in two halves; the top is a large, high-walled trimming station with an interchangeable 150-micron screen, while the bottom is a mirror finish kief collection tray.

Harvest More also includes a static sweeping brush with every Trim Bin to help collect all the kief that is lost during the trimming process.

GeoPot’s Drying Racks

If you’ve wet trimmed your crop, you’ll need to dedicate a drying space for your flowers. Enter GeoPot’s Drying Racks – the most efficient way to vertically dry cannabis. GreenPlanet Wholesale stocks two of GeoPot’s most popular “Flower Tower” drying racks: the buckle-style and the zipper-style.

The Flower Tower buckle-style is an open rack that allows growers to access and distribute drying flowers on all sides, while the zipper-style rack is protected on all sides by perforated fabric, making it the perfect choice for tight spaces. All Flower Tower Dry Racks are equipped with a center strap to prevent bowing in the middle. And, both the buckle-style and zipper-style racks come with a carrying case for easy storage.

TrolMaster’s Hydro-X Environmental Controller (HSC-1)

Just like the grow room, the drying room’s environment has to be consistently monitored and controlled. That’s why growers are using TrolMaster’s environmental controller (HSC-1) for complete, customizable control for every environmental aspect in the garden. TrolMaster has 12 modules available for the Hydro-X to control HVAC systems, mini-split AC’s, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, CO2, irrigation pumps, and lighting.

However, the most powerful feature of the HSC-1 is the device’s ability to monitor your garden in real-time. Just connect to TrolMaster’s smartphone app to access data and control your garden from a distance. So, with the help of TrolMaster’s digital app, growers can make sure the drying room is protected against real-time threats like temperature swings and access humidity.

Find Spring Pots Today at GreenPlanet Wholesale

Expert growers understand the benefits of growing in fabric pots. Plants grow faster, more vigorously, and produce thicker stalks, branches, and heavier flowers. But as beneficial as fabric containers can be, working with them can often be a headache – transplanting, transportation, and irrigation cycles can all be potentially harmful to plants in flimsy, unsupported fabric pots. However, as manufacturers of some of the industry’s best fabric containers, Spring Pot has revolutionized the way we use fabric containers in the garden.

Growing in fabric pots benefits plants to grow faster, more vigorously, and produce thicker stalks

Spring Pots are now available at GreenPlanet Wholesale! Read the passages below to learn more about the latest addition to our catalogue of products:

Why Grow in Fabric Pots?

Fabric containers naturally “air prune” the roots of growing plants. As most growers know, roots need abundant oxygen to thrive. In fabric pots, oxygen flows through the container from all sides. So, when roots reach the container boundary, they sense optimum moisture and oxygen levels. This leads the roots to split and grow secondary root tips, instead of circling the container in search of excess moisture and fertilizer.

Fabric containers can increase root zone nutrient absorption

Fabric containers can also increase root zone nutrient absorption and moisture permeation. Fabric pots are permeable, meaning that water and air can pass into and out of the container. When water enters from the top, it permeates the soil and transpires from the sides of the pot. Excess water that reaches the bottom flows through the fabric and exits the vessel. This prevents excess moisture from building up in the container. Because of these benefits, crops can perform in both the vegetative and flowering stages of growth with increased success, growing thicker stalks, bigger branches, and heavier flowers.

The Benefits of the Spring Pot Burner Line

What makes Spring Pots so special? Spring Pots are extremely tough, rigid, and durable, making them the perfect tool for growers looking to benefit from fabric containers. Spring Pot’s are also the only brand of fabric pot on the market manufactured with proprietary fabric and folding, rather than an interwoven skeletal support system. This makes Spring Pots extremely rigid, even when empty. Here are some of the other unique features of Spring Pots available at GreenPlanet Wholesale:

  • Reinforced Stitched Upper Rim: Burner Spring Pots are reinforced at the rim with extra stitching. This allows the pot to stay firmly upright during heavy irrigations.
  • Colour Coded Stitching: Spring Pots are colour coded with unique stitching. This makes each pot’s size and variation easier to distinguish.
  • Pathogen Protected Packaging: All orders are manufactured and shipped inside vacuum-sealed, pathogen-protected packaging.
  • Standard Handles on 5 gallon and above: Spring Pots sizes 5 gallon and above all come standard with carrying handles.
  • BPA Free and Heavy Metal-Free: You can trust that your consumable harvests will be free from any unhealthy contaminants that could harm your customers or loved ones.

Spring Pots are Now Available at GreenPlanet Wholesale

Want to grow in Spring Pots? GreenPlanet Wholesale now has select sizes of Spring Pots Burner Line available for purchase. This line comes with the benefits listed above, like colour-coded, reinforced stitching, vacuum-sealed packaging, and transportation handles. Also, all Spring Pots are manufactured with heavy metal-free, environmentally friendly materials. So, talk to your GreenPlanet representative today about purchasing inquires or for more information about Spring Pots!

Feed Your Crop Organically with the AutoPot AquaValve5

Since its initial release, AutoPot Watering Systems have taken the Canadian market by storm. By passively automating watering cycles, gardeners who have opted for AutoPot solutions have enjoyed an array of advantages in all sectors of cultivation. At GreenPlanet Wholesale, we have been consistently proud to partner with companies that offer the best of technology. With the shared goal of fostering a healthier, greener planet, the research and development team at AutoPot Watering Systems have outdone themselves again.

Canada, meet the AutoPot AquaValve5: a new, innovative piece of hardware that affords the use of liquid organic nutrients in existing AutoPot systems, and helps protect against blockages, sediment build-up and unforeseen, head-scratching hazards. Follow the passages below for more information on this, and other benefits of AutoPot’s latest cultivation device.

What is the AutoPot AquaValve5?

Much like the original design, the AquaValve5 is an intricate float-valve that regulates the passive flow of water into the saucers of the AutoPot self-irrigation system. However, unlike the original float-valve, the AquaValve5 has an increased inlet size of almost 66% and allows gardeners to use a wider variety of organic and mineral-based nutrient systems. Other expected benefits of the new design include faster flow rates, increased reliability and protection against sediment blockages and build-up. Read more below for details on AutoPot’s development of the AquaValve5

Larger Inlets and Hose for Liquid Organic Fertilizer

The most distinguishing feature of the AquaValve5 is its size. With a 5mm internal diameter inlet, and options for either 9mm or 16mm mainline hose, the AquaValve5 makes easy work of viscous, organic and mineral fertilizers. Before releasing the AquaValve5 to the European market, the research and development team at AutoPot thoroughly tested the efficacy of the device in their UK-based R&D facility. For example, in a liquid organic feed test on asparagus peas, the AquaValve5 performed with amazing results. Eight 1Pot AutoPot modules made up the control for the test and were given varying doses of plain, reverse osmosis and organic fertilizer irrigation.

AQUAvalve5 – Liquid Organic Feed Test on Asparagus Peas. Read more.

With no surprise, the AquaValve5 handled the varying doses of fertilizer and water with no issues. So, the researchers took the test a step further and set-up a ninth 1Pot module to a standalone reservoir, this time letting the system run with a constant flow of liquid organic fertilizer. Based on the data available from our partners at AutoPot, this “wild-card” module performed with excellent success, had no clogging issues or sediment build-up and maintained steady growth rates compared to the control modules.

AQUAvalve5 – “Wildcard” Module. Read more.

Fully Compatible with Existing Systems

AutoPot Watering System Accessory Packs now come standard with the AquaValve5, 9mm, 9-16mm, and 16mm pipe-work and fittings. As mentioned above, this option gives growers a much wider variety in fertilizer choice and helps protect against issues of sediment blockage and build-up. If you already have an AutoPot system and want to experiment with liquid organic fertilizer, your existing 1Pot, 1Pot XL, XL SmartPot, and easy2grow trays, pots and lids will all accommodate the new AquaValve5, 9mm and 16mm pipe-work. Existing reservoirs can also be adapted to work with the AquaValve5, as 9mm top hat grommets, golf-filters and inline-taps are available as spare parts to reconfigure hard plastic or FlexiTank reservoirs.

A Word From AutoPot

AutoPot continues to innovate the hydroponic landscape with designs that elevate the potential of a garden. Now with the AquaValve5, no task, method or system is impossible to manage. In discussing the “proof of concept” surrounding the AquaValve5, AutoPot’s representatives had this to say on the motivation behind engineering the new design:

Whether ‘results’ are defined by flavour, size, yield, health, purity or enjoyment, nothing is more important to a grower than ‘results’. If a grower’s preferred means of getting results isn’t open to them they will surely find another way. Hence the changes we’re about to make – changes that keep our systems in line with contemporary use and allow our growers to get exceptional results however they grow.

(AutoPot R&D, 2020, para. 9)

Under Current Systems and Cultured Solutions Nutrients Available Through GreenPlanet Wholesale

Current Culture H2O (CCH2O) is widely recognized as a world leader in the development, planning and use of active water culture systems. CCH2O incorporates the patented and proven principle of Re-Circulating Deep Water Culture (RDWC) in our famous Under Current series of RDWC systems – a concept refined and developed by company founders Daniel Wilson and Christian Long beginning before the company’s founding in 2006. More recently, CCH2O is gaining recognition for Cultured Solutions, a complete, economical and easy to follow crop nutrient system that excels in hydroponics, and that is also becoming widely adopted in media-based growing systems like coco or rockwool.

Crops grown in the Under Current RDWC systems with Cultured Solutions are often described as the highest quality harvests ever seen or experienced both by consumers and growers alike.  The clean smooth tastes and intense fragrances in the final harvest are the results of plants assimilating pure forms of essential nutrients under highly oxygenated root zone conditions – as it turns out, people love to taste the plant, not the dirt. Naturally, the yields and growth rates get people’s attention too!

The Advantages of Growing with Current Culture H2O

Besides amazing results, one of the factors that have contributed to the wide success of the Under Current system is the level of scalability and ease of changing configurations; for instance, the adaptability as part of the growing evolution. This is one of the reasons Current Culture H2O is so excited to be working with GreenPlanet Wholesale. As the Canadian distributor of CCH2O solutions, GreenPlanet can supply growers at both the commercial and hobbyist level with easy access to their system components to build a garden that works for every space, budget and scale demand.  And of course, as well as to deliver complete turnkey systems, whether as one of their ready to ship Under Current system packages or as a complete custom designed turnkey operation.

All CCH2O complete systems and components are professionally designed, manufactured and packaged.  We use the latest in CAD design not only in developing and making our systems and components, but all CCH2O systems come with highly detailed and easy to follow instructions for assembly, operation and maintenance.  There is absolutely no guesswork required or luck involved for growers to attain exceptional cropping results. Whether it’s your first time growing a small crop at home, or the hundredth as a professional grower in a licensed facility, success can almost be guaranteed when selecting the Under Current series of hydroponic systems.

Justin chats to the Current Culture Team at the Lift & Co. Expo.

What to Expect when Using an Under Current System

Hydroponic systems are renowned for saving growers time and money; so, If you’re a grower who wants to save significantly on time, water, power and plant food, switching to a CCH2O Under Current system is among the smartest decisions you’ll ever make in the garden. Listed below are some of the advantages to expect when switching to a closed-loop Under Current System:

Significant savings in water use; closed hydroponics systems lose very little water to air, allowing plant nutrient solution uptake to become an accurate diagnostic in the grower’s toolbox.

Using the principles of thermodynamics, it can be more economical for growers to heat or cool the nutrient solution of growing plants, rather than expend more energy in an attempt to cool or heat the air in the aerial growing environment. This feature offers growers a large potential reduction in power use.

Growth rates are exceptionally fast and healthy; save weeks in the vegetative growth phase to achieve the same sized plant at harvest versus traditional cropping methods.

Because there is little to no growing medium in the system, it is easier to maintain hygienic growing conditions reducing potential insect or pathogen pressures on the crop; the Under Current doesn’t give places for the bad guys to hide and reproduce

All Under Current systems are highly scalable and adaptable while saving big on labour; it’s easy to start at a smaller scale and add on as plants or your cropping needs grow.

Clean and Stable Hydroponic Nutrients: Cultured Solutions

Early on, Current Culture H2O began to recognize the need for very clean crop nutrients and additives that would be easy to use, and give great quality yields and results. Additionally, after extensive testing of other nutrient systems in the marketplace, CCH2O developed a line of nutrients that not only delivers great quality results but also creates a stable pH solution and avoids drastic spikes in EC.

This need gave rise to Cultured Solutions, hydroponic nutrient formulations they developed to meet their stringent criteria of minimizing hassles associated with hydroponic plant food, and the development of a nutrient system that would help growers get the most out of RDWC technology. After years under development, CCH2O is pleased to make widely available the proven nutrient line, Cultured Solutions, GreenPlanet Wholesale.  Made with the professional grower in mind, Cultured Solutions are highly concentrated and economical to use.  A low salt index means Cultured Solutions won’t plug up injector systems and irrigation lines while keeping the root zone and growing media clean and clear to maximize nutrient uptake for aggressive crops that taste great at harvest.

Because of the clean and stable nature of Cultured Solutions nutrients, growers using other types of systems including rockwool and coco continue to make the switch and join the following of hydroponic growers achieving next-level results. For more information about Cultured Solutions nutrient and additives and for detailed use in your type of system, please consult their crop feeding program page. Enhance Cannabis Quantity and Quality with CenturionPro’s Elite Harvesting Solutions

Cannabis sales in Canada have climbed steadily throughout 2020, to reach record highs of over $230 million. The surge has been driven by a rise in retail stores improving product accessibility, combined with edibles, extracts, and topicals enticing untapped audiences. The new product formats were predicted to attract over three million new consumers, which could help Canada’s recreational industry finally realize its true potential.

With an annual market value of $2.7 billion, the new product categories present lucrative opportunities for the nation’s producers. To benefit from an expanded portfolio, growers need to scale harvests to meet unprecedented demand without sacrificing quality. To do this cost-effectively requires producers to analyze operations from top to bottom, identifying which processes can be streamlined and deploying solutions that safeguard standards.

Streamlining Strategically

Automation can enhance the quantity of cannabis produced, but when adopted strategically can also enhance the quality. When streamlining operations growers should look for the early big wins, automating the most labour-intensive and expensive tasks first. For many this is the crucial, but tedious, harvesting process, which can make or break the value of the crop.

De-stemming hundreds of pounds of cannabis can be a momentous and monotonous task, which can take many weeks if done manually. Every time there is contact with flower, there is a risk of trichrome degradation that diminishes the value of the crop. As a result, many rely on bucking machines to carefully remove buds from plants quickly. Leading harvesting solutions ensure that large flowers and top colas are kept intact, with little to no damage to trichome structure.

Buckers instead of hand de-stemming protects large flowers and top colas.

To enhance the appearance, quality and value of cannabis, growers of all sizes are also increasingly investing in automated trimming machines. While hand-trimming flowers is often romanticized, it is rarely practical in a commercial environment. On average, a micro-cultivator will yield 174 lbs of flower in a 2,000 sq. ft. grow room, which would typically take 25 employees seven days to trim. With an experienced trimming crew charging $200 per lb, a single harvest could cost $34,800. This illustrates how inefficient and expensive hand trimming cannabis can be for even the smallest operation. By contrast, a top-of-the-line machine will trim 174l bs in under five hours-for a one-off investment of significantly less.

An example of automated trimming at it’s finest.

Hiring a trimming crew can be problematic as well as expensive. Employees require motivation to provide top-quality product constantly, with the entire cultivation process reliant on their actions and availability. Pinning hopes on individuals for such a pivotal process can leave companies vulnerable to unforeseen circumstances, such as the lockdowns enacted to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Consistency is King

Due to industry pressures, it is essential cultivators can guarantee their harvesting capacity, which can be difficult to do with a manual workforce. Trimming delays can cause costly bottlenecks and downtime, which prevents producers from filling delivery windows. This is especially true in today’s market, with growers often required to achieve perpetual harvests to satisfy demand.

The best trimming machines are as versatile as a human trimmer, but capable of infinitely greater efficiency and uniformity. With the ability to trim wet or dry cannabis to replicate hand-trimmed flower, adjustable machines produce the same cut every time. In contrast, hand-trimmed product can vary person-to-person and batch-to-batch. The consistency provided by trimming machines enables growers to maintain standards as they scale to meet unprecedented demand.

Adopting automated solutions for automation’s sake, without first identifying how they improve operations, will result in expenses that fail to enhance your grow. However, strategically identifying where costs can be saved and implementing specialist solutions improves both quantity and quality. This enables growers to attract new cannabis audiences now, with the capacity and consistency to satisfy and retain these customers in the future.

So which trimming system is the one for you?

Need help finding the right harvesting solution for your garden? The Centurion product selector can identify your ideal machine; simply select the size of your indoor, outdoor or greenhouse grow to get started! The Growth Enhancing Properties of Fish Sh!t

In ancient Egypt, the flooding of the Nile River was of such importance that the year was divided into three seasons: Akhet (Inundation), Peret (Growth), and Shemu (Harvest). The Egyptians believed the Nile overflowed with tears their Goddess, Isis, would shed for her slain husband, King Osiris. Little did they know that the yearly flood coincided with the monsoon season in early spring. In this period, capillary springs and rivers would fill with water and overflow into the great Nile, subsequently irrigating the surrounding plains of Egypt.

History and mythology aside, the annual flooding of the Nile is arguably responsible for sustaining one of the world’s greatest and most powerful ancient civilizations. At its height of influence, ancient Egypt could feed up to two million people a season, as the water which flooded the fields of farmers carried with it a rich and valuable resource – fertilizer. The aquatic diversity of the Nile River is rivalled only by a few other freshwater sources in the world; in this exotic ecosystem, fish produce waste which can benefit plants in amazing ways. In the case of ancient Egypt, access to this natural ecological resource did more than subside hunger, it even helped build an empire. Of all the products available in the industry of gardening today, there is only one bottled supplement which attempts to emulate the growth-enhancing properties of the Nile River – you guessed it, Fish Sh!t.

What Fish Sh!t Can Do For Your Garden:

Lucky for us, the same technology utilized by the ancient Egyptians exists today in a bottle. Cultivated at Fish Head Farms by providing selected tilapia with a nutrient-rich blend of food, Fish Sh!t is a root enhancing product which provides your chosen medium with a specially formulated microbial profile. By including Fish Sh!t as a supplement in your general feeding program, you can expect the following benefits:

Increase in Yield

Fish Head Farms states that using Fish Sh!t can result in an expected twenty percent increase in yield. There’s a lot of truth in the old saying, “the bigger the roots, the bigger the fruit”; with a larger root system due to the inclusion of Fish Sh!t, gardeners can be sure to expect larger flowers at harvest time.

People who use Fish Sh!t can expect up to a 20% increase in yield.

Increase in Flavour and Aroma

The addition of an organic supplement, especially one as rich in natural material as Fish Sh!t can be instrumental in procuring a high-quality end product. Based on control tests conducted by Fish Head Farms, researchers found that plants enhanced with Fish Sh!t exhibited higher percentages of overall cannabinoids and a larger split between the most aromatic and flavourful terpenes

Increase in Nutrient Uptake

The beneficial properties of Fish Sh!t can help to break down heavy salts, micro and macronutrients, faster and with greater efficacy in the root zone, therefore leading to an increase in cumulative nutrient uptake. Fish Sh!t can even be utilized during a plant’s flushing period to increase the uptake of heavy macronutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium before harvest.

I was able to see immediate results in my own plants after just a week. I ran a full vegetative and flowering cycle, applying Fish Sh!t to only a few of the plants to get a fair comparison. FishSh!t exceeded my expectations, Jason explains. I ran the same strains, from the same three mother plants for a year, through multiple cycles. I can honestly say that there was a noticeable improvement between my earlier harvests and with every harvest, since I started using Fish Sh!t, the flavor and yield have definitely improved.”

My numbers show an 8-10% higher yield on average, with dense buds that have heavy trichome coverage and stronger terpenes.
